Install LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61

This page contains tips for the installation of LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61. It details the correct fasteners to use.

Screw Selection

For fixing LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 to supports and at lapped ends use Hex head self drilling and tapping screws according to the following:

Steel Supports

(up to 2.0 mm thick): No. 12-14 x 20 mm long

Timber Supports:

(hardwood and softwood): No. 14-10 x 50 mm long.

At Lapped Ends:

Refer to the figures below for the specific fastener quantities and locations.

LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 Internal Supports

Lapping

The best performance can be obtained from LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 by lapping sections together. Recommended minimum lap length is 15% of span between rafters or supports.

Cutting

Cut LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 using an abrasive disc or metal cutting blade. Swarf and burred edges should be cleaned off on completion of cutting.

Storing on Site

LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 is delivered in strapped bundles. If not required for immediate use, the bundles should be neatly stacked clear of the ground. When stacked they should be allowed to drain, should wetting occur. The bundles should not be exposed in the open for extended periods. If unavoidable, protect from rain and moisture with waterproof covers.

LYSAGHT TOPSPAN® 61 sections will perform as specified if design, fabrication and fixing are in accordance with our recommendations and good trade practice.
