LYSAGHT POWERDEK®
Product Description and Features
LYSAGHT POWERDEK® is one of our family of steel decks, which also includes LYSAGHT W-DEK® and BONDEK®. Available in 100mm and 120mm profile depths and 1.0mm, 1.2mm and 1.5mm base metal thicknesses (BMT), LYSAGHT POWERDEK® will revolutionise how you design with concrete slabs.
- Significantly increased unpropped spans (up to 6.0m) and substantially increased load carrying capacities
- Because the profiles are encased in concrete, they have exceptional fire performance, with no extra reinforcement required for up to a 3 hour fire rating
- Made from zinc coated (Z450), high tensile steel for strength and durability
- Precambered to minimise formwork deflection, which provides better appearance for exposed ceilings
- A positive interlocking rib provides a strong, secure working platform
- Sufficient shear bond capacity for imposed loads up to 30KPa.
Warnings
- Design & detailing should be carried out by a qualified structural engineer

General Notes: Quick selection tables can be used to select a POWERDEK® as a structural formwork, provided the following conditions are satisfied.
- The tables shall be used for normal density concrete (2400kg/m³)
- The support lines extend across the full width of the sheeting and have a minimum bearing of 50mm at the ends of the sheets when it rests on steel or concrete and 70mm when resting on other materials such as brick or block.
- The sheets continue within each slab length without any overlaps or intermediate splicing or jointing.
- The sheets are designed as single span formwork. No permanent or temporary intermediate supports shall be used.
- The slab has a uniform cross section.
- The formwork is not used as a restraint to supporting steel beams during construction. When necessary, restraint capacities can be analysed following first principles. The tables are based on the following maximum construction loads:
- Workmen and equipment = 100kg/m²
- Maximum construction imposed load is 1.5kPa, or 4.5/span kPa for slab spans less that 3m.
- Maximum imposed weight of stacked materials on the formwork is 4.0kPa. This load shall not be applied on recently formed slabs.
- Imposed construction loads shall not be applied to areas supporting storage loads and vice versa.
- Ponding dead load - the additional weight due to ponding concrete from sheeting deflection has been included.
- Supports shall effectively be rigid and strong to support construction loads.
- The sheeting shall not have a cantilever portion.
- The table has been developed from formwork deflections span/250.
- The information in this brochure is intended for guidance only and must be used in conjunction with a consulting structural engineer.
