LYSAGHT W-DEK®
Product Description and Features
LYSAGHT W-DEK® is one of a range of structural steel decking products available from BlueScope Lysaght. It is an economical steel decking system which has been optimised to bring greater efficiency, speed of construction and economy.
- One of the widest steel deck profiles currently available (700mm) in Australia
- Superior spanning capacity reduces propping requirements (4m plus unpropped spans)
- Excellent concrete displacement characteristics - reduces up to 40mm concrete over conventional concrete slabs
- Improved on-site safety with less propping, no stripping and minimal on-site cutting
- Can be used as permanent formwork or used to reduce bottom reinforcing
- Fast track construction, reduced time from floor to floor
- Safe working platform with wide flat ribs
- Soffit aesthetics with no or minimal deformations from prop marking
Common Uses of this product
Structural Formwork and flooring system for composite concrete slabs
Warnings
- Design & detailing should be carried out by a qualified structural engineer

NOTES:
- Continuous maximum slab spans are limited as given in the Design & Construction manual for interior spans and total 6000mm limit.
- Maximum formwork spans are based on Ll/240 deflection limit and ratio of two adjacent spans equal 1:1 and 100mm width of support.
- Use LYSAGHT W 2004 software to get longer spans with Ll/130 deflection limit and wider supports.
- These tables can be used in steel frame construction or other buildings where sheets can be securely fixed to supports.
Refer to LYSAGHT W-DEK® design manual for full note specifications.
General Notes
- The tables shall be used for normal density concrete (2400kg/m³).
- The lines of support shall extend across the full width of the sheeting and have a minimum bearing 50mm at the ends of the sheets and 100mm at intermediate supports over which sheeting is continuous, including at props. It may be necessary to locate formwork joints at permanent supports when sheeting is terminated to control formwork deflections.
- The tables are based on the following maximum construction loads:
· Workmen and equipment = 100kg/m²
· Mounting of concrete = 3kPa over an area of 1.6x1.6m
and zero over the remainder.
· Stacking of material on LYSAGHT W-DEK® sheets before placement of
concrete only = 100kg/m² which should be on drawings and controlled on
construction site. - No loads from stacked materials are allowed until the concrete has set.
- The sheets shall not be spliced or jointed.
- Supports shall be effectively rigid and strong to support construction loads.
- The sheeting shall not have cantilever portions.
- Sheets should be securely fixed to supports by spot welding, screw fixing or similar methods.
- Adopt 300mm form-ply on top of prop bearer to minimise prop marks where LYSAGHT W-DEK® is left to be exposed.
